[OSENWORLD] Kim Woo-bin and Bae Suzy will reunite on screen this Chuseok holiday in a brand-new Netflix series.
On August 20, Netflix confirmed that its latest original series Genie, Make a Wish will premiere globally on October 3. The fantasy romantic comedy tells the story of Genie (played by Kim Woo-bin), a mysterious spirit who awakens after a thousand years, and Ga-young (Bae Suzy), a human who has lost her emotions.
Kim Woo-bin, often dubbed the “Rom-Com King,” takes on the role of Genie — a darker, more intense figure, a devilish genie referred to as a “Satan genie.” Suzy, widely recognized as a “Rom-Com Goddess,” transforms into Ga-young, an unusual and enchanting new master of the lamp whose emotionless state adds both tension and anticipation to the narrative.
The series also marks the pair’s first reunion in eight years since the 2016 drama Uncontrollably Fond. Joining them are Ahn Eun-jin, Noh Sang-hyun, Ko Kyu-phil, and Lee Joo-young, rounding out a colorful ensemble cast.
Alongside the premiere date announcement, Netflix unveiled a striking poster and teaser video. In the teaser, Genie appears before Ga-young in a golden sandstorm as she holds the lamp in the desert. His chilling line — “I will search the entire world to find you. Remember, the name that will come for you is Iblis” — leaves a powerful impression, while the twist that the wish-granting entity is in fact a “Satan genie” heightens the intrigue.
Netflix described the series as “a romantic comedy that blends sweet fantasy with thrilling excitement,” promising that the synergy between Kim Woo-bin and Suzy will captivate viewers worldwide.
